I'm seeing this rose as peachy on the inside, pink on the outer petals.  Is this correct?

I only have the one bush to go on, and it's only going on one year old.
 
So far...
It has been very upright, much like Queen of Sweden. Strong branches shooting upwards with blooms upright. The colour has been peachy inside and pink outside, a surprise. The peach turns to pink over time, so it seems an undeveloped peachy hue. The scent doesn't do much for me, for me it is medium, and tends towards the smell of a florist's shop, perhaps like a carnation, many people like the scent and I think it won awards, so it is likely just my nose.

Thanks for the verification.  I'm coming to the conclusion that I like multi colored roses.  Can't wait for Lady Emma!

This is my most favorite rose. For its outter petals are bigger and lighter pink, and the inner petals are smaller and fragmentized, which forms a lovely look. During the day, the flower shape is a shallow cup; but at nightfall the outter petals begin to fold, and then the cup becomes a bun. Isn't it marvellous?

On the other hand, the raspberry fragrance appeal to me very much.

I really like this rose too! I never seem to get enough of these cupshaped roses - I find that flowershape more interesting than other shapes. On GW forum my nick is Cupshaped_roses for this reason. I have also noticed many of these cupshaped roses close their petals at night. When they slowly open during the day - the etheral oils have condensed during the night and are released as the flowers warms up .. So they are usually most fragrant early in the day. I really like Roberts pictures of this rose - they are great!

Niels, thanks for the kind words about my photos. looking at them now, I have to admit that I'm quite pleased with them and suddenly filled with anticipation for this season's blooms. My only disappointment with this rose has been the scent, but since mine is only a year old, maybe it will be stronger and more pronounced this second summer? I've put this one in the ground, right near the patio against a short wall so that my neighbours will be able to enjoy it too as it will become taller than the short wall. So far, it's been rather tall and narrow, much like Queen of Sweden for me, I hope it stays that way. Any experience with the mature bush shape anyone?

Hi Robert:  I don't have any experience with Alnwick rose, but regarding the scent:  it gets better when it developed own-roots.  As I researched past forums on scent, people reported better scent on Austin a few years later.  Krista from New York, zone 5a like mine, listed Alnwick rose as her top 5 scents (she has over 100 bushes for scent alone).

My Pat Austin came last year GRAFTED on Dr. Huey.  It stank like tobacco.  When I put it into my alkaline soil, the scent improved.  Dr. Huey picks up sulfur from the soil, thus spoiling the scent.  I planted Pat Austin's bud union 4" to 5" BELOW soil level.  We had the wettest year.  Pat grew her own-roots.  This year Pat gave me the best scent, smells like ripe nectarine/floral.  I can see why she won a fragrance award in England.
